ICT Development in Lao PDRLao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) is a small, landlocked country in Indochina, with China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Thailand as its neighbours. A large part of the country is mountainous and forested and the country has an abundance of natural resources. The majority (73 percent) of the country’s 5.62 million people (as of 2005) live in the rural areas. About 40 percent of households have no access to electricity, almost 50 percent have access to electricity through the national grid, and another 10 percent use generators or car batteries to generate electricity.
