Nameunsri is one of tambols in Trang. Generally, people there are agriculturists working on paddy field and rubber tree. However, to increase monthly income, people spend free time with hand woven fabric.

Due to high revenue, some people merely work for hand woven fabric. Finally, hand women textile at Nameunsri is famous and brings about high benefit to community people.

 

In 1971, Mrs. Nang Chuayrod - 78 year old Nameunsri dweller, persuading her neighbors to make hand woven fabric. Mrs. Nang’s objective was to bring back the fame of hand woven textile to young generation. In the beginning, there were four people working for hand woven fabric group.

 

 

Consequently, Mrs. Kusol Ninlaor – daughter of Mrs. Nang, assisting her mother to promote hand woven fabric to outsiders until Nameunsri hand woven textile become well-known among tourists. Additionally, local government agencies provide financial support to Mrs. Nang’s group and Southern Wisdom Oriented University gave honor doctoral degree to Mrs. Kusol Ninlaor.

 

In 1974, the member of Nameunsri hand woven fabric group was increased to 30 and 16 looms.

 

In 1976, Department of Community Development granted the loan to Nameunsri hand woven textile group in order to be a circulate budget for buying essential stuff.

 

In 1978, Trang Local Administrative Office spent 150,000 THB in order to build the textile plant for Nameunsri hand woven textile group.

 

 

In 1979, Department of Provincial Development spent 271,000 THB for building another textile plant because the number of Nameunsri hand woven textile group was increased to 60. Additionally, the group was encouraged to set up the cooperation and hand woven textile training centre.

 

In 2010, the government granted 890,800 THB to the group for maintaining textile plant, toilets and textile museum.

 

Presently, there are 128 people working for Nameunsri hand woven fabric group and they can earn about 3,000 – 4,000 THB per month for part time working and 7,000 – 8,000 THB for full time working.
